Deciduous SMILE

An initiative for Children

Why Deciduous SMILE

WHO recognizes oral health as an integral part of general health. It is estimated that about more than  50% of school children are suffering from dental caries. Dental pain causes loss of concentration at the school and the children may not be able to study.

Highlights of Current Scenario

  • Over 80% under 15-years have caries and 40% suffer from
  • Mal-occlusion.
  • Roughly 60-70% of School children have Gum Diseases (Gingivitis)
  • There is a substantial increase in Early Childhood Caries (ECC) in kids.
  • The Social impact of Oral Disease in children is substantial, as school hours are lost each year due to Dental related illness.

Global YOUTH Tobacco Survey Data

28.6% of the India population uses some form of Tobacco! - According to the GLOBAL YOUTH TOBACCO SURVEY DATA, there is a DOWNWARD shift in the age of initiation of Tobacco usage with the average age now at 10 to 11 years. This Downward shift in the age of initiation is a concerning trend as it could potentially lead to a corresponding Downward shift in the Age of Incidence of Oral Cancer. This is particularly alarming for India, which has

one of the youngest populations in the World.
